Excerpt From Heritage Isle This was my attempt at writing a historical novel, but I never got past the narrative... There have been islands in my family history for as far back as I have been able to trace. Starting in the northeastern Atlantic with Ireland, traveling south to the Azores and further south still to the Cape Verde Islands, heading south again and west to the Island of Antigua, turning northwestward to the island of Nantucket Massachusetts and finally believe it or not the state of Rhode Island, which is not an island at all. Their journey was neither as direct as the path I’ve described nor did each of my ancestors take the same route. Each came from somewhere different and was headed somewhere different but somehow they came together which allowed me to enjoy the beauty of life in Jill's world. |
